COACHING REQUIREMENT DETAILS

USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION

This is the first step to becoming a MCYH Coach for the 2017-2018 season.  All coaches are required to register with USA Hockey as a ‘Player/Coach’ prior to getting on the ice and acceptance of the coaching application.

To register go to:  https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login_input.action

Once completed, provide the registration number on the MCYH Coaching Application or to the MCYH Coaching Director.

MCYHA COACHING APPLICATION:

The MCYH Coaching Application is available online, at registration, and at the arena office.  The application will also include the following:

-          MCYH Coach’s Code of Conduct

-          MCYH Anti-Bullying Policy

Please complete and sign all necessary areas of the application.  Completed applications can be sent by email to the MCYH Coaching Director, dropped off at registration, or dropped off at the arena office.

MWAHA BACKGROUND SCREENING:

All coaches are required to fill out an online Consent to Screen form. It should only take about 5 minutes. Completion of the background Screening is required before getting on the ice.  Please click on the following link to register:

https://opportunities.averity.com/Application.aspx?oid=3396

This is very important.  Be sure to select our association – ‘Mason City Youth Hockey’ – on the next page of the online form.

USA HOCKEY SAFE SPORT TRAINING:

For the 2017-18 season, all coaches will be required to complete the SafeSport Training. The SafeSport Training is valid for 2 seasons. Thus, if a coach took the training for 2016-17 he or she will not need to take the training again until the 2018-19 season (at which time a shorter “refresher” course will be available).  The deadline for coaches to complete the training is November 1st, 2017.

The training is available at no cost. The training was produced by the United States Olympic Committee and is comprised of short video segments that take approximately 90 minutes to complete, however, not all training needs to be completed in one session. You will need your USA Hockey Member Number.

Information on how to register and access the SafeSport Training can be found on the USA Hockey website at http://www.usahockey.com/page/show/909009-safesport-program-training- .  Also, please be sure to select the ‘USA Hockey SafeSport’ course as there are multiple courses available. The website also has links if you have questions about the training or on registering for the training.

More information on the USA Hockey SafeSport Program can be found at www.usahockey.com/safesport.

** Upon completion of the training, a printout of the SafeSport certificate must be submitted to the association SafeSport Coordinator **

USA HOCKEY CEP CERTIFICATION:

All coaches are required to comply with USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program by December 31st, 2017.  Details can be found on USA Hockey’s website at:   http://www.usahockey.com/coachingclinics.
